Choosing the right Mirror #185 - 10th November 2025
Choosing the right mirror for you.
This is the most important part of mirror magic. The mirror has to resonate with your energies, it has to be pleasing to your eye and apart from all that, it does need some practical attributes too.
Cleanliness/condition - Choose one that is clean, scratch free and in good condition. Imperfections may hinder your work if you are new to this type of magic.
Frame/Aesthetics - The frame will add to its overall look, the more pleasing it is to YOUR eye, the better a connection you will have with it.
Size/Shape - You may prefer a large stand alone mirror, maybe you don’t have much space and prefer a hand held mirror or maybe mirror magic is going to be your go to form of magic, so a handbag size compact you can carry with you all the time would suit you better. Consider a concave or convex mirror rather than flat too, they all work differently.
Antique/Used/New - Some people prefer a brand new mirror that nobody else has ever worked with, others prefer an antique that looks the part and has its own history. The choice is yours alone.
Mirror Backing - What backing will your mirror have, wood, material, clay or a reflective coating. Traditional old mirror magic often resulted in the practitioner taking away the backing, so then it wouldn’t matter.
Energetic Resonance - Spend time holding and looking at the mirror before you buy it, how does it make you feel, what energy is it giving off?
Dedicated Space - Will your mirror fit in the designated space you want to place it in. It is always best not to keep moving it around, unless you are buying a compact.
Covering the mirror - When not in use the mirror should be covered. For hand held, you can simply turn it over, but stand alone and large dresser top mirrors would need a cover to throw over them so the mirror's portal energy is closed. (Consider walking around with your 3rd eye all the time”!
In the end that one that resonates the most with you will be the perfect fit, but you will still need to consider the above to get the best use from your new tool.
