Clove.

Cloves like a good old hot climate at sustained temperatures, so not the sort of weather we get in the UK! They are mostly picked from the tree species Syzygium aromaticum which are native to Indonesia's Maluku Islands or Spice Islands.

Luckily they are widely used in cooking and available in all supermarkets in the seasoning isle.

We do have a substitute in the UK which is called Wood Avens or Geum urbanum and the roots are often used as a pretend form of clove.

l be covered at a different time, so for now, just pop to the supermarket and pick up a jar for a couple of quid.
