Damiana

Also called Turnera diffusa. Damiana is a lovely plant with a bright yellow flower that consists of 5 petals and it just reminds me of a softer version of the pentagram.

Damiana has an ancient, erotic reputation, particularly amongst Mexican Indians. The leaves were prescribed as an aphrodisiac and also as a tonic for overall health. There are records of it being used 100’s of years ago by the Mayans as an aphrodisiac as well as to treat dizziness and balance issues. The Aztecs also used it as a tonic to improve general health and wellbeing.

It is also considered to be a digestive aid, antidepressant and balances out diabetic sugars too.

Use the leaves in a herbal tea or make a tincture, you can also take in tablet form.

Be aware as always that most plants have contra-indications and this plant cannot be taken with some forms of antidepressant, chemo medication and heart meds.

The plant itself has vitamins A, C and E . Magnesium and calcium and various flavonoids which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in them.

Damiana has also been used for obesity problems, and those suffering from issues with the gut.
