Blessed Mabon #172

Mabon is a wonderful time, the start of autumn and that time when we start to turn the radiators back on, draw the curtains earlier and enjoy those cosy nights indoors after walking through the fields of fallen leaves and conkers.

Mushrooms are abound and so are so many other plants we can eat and heal with.

Day and night are equal again as we roll into the autumn equinox on the 22nd September. It is a time for gratitude for the earth's bounty, reflection, and preparing for the coming shorter days and darker half of the year.

We celebrate the 2nd of the 3 harvests and give thanks for all that we have been given and all that we still have to come. Mabon serves as a liminal or transitional point in the year, encouraging a shift from active, outward-focused energy to inward reflection, rest, and contemplation.

As with many of the Sabbats, use this time for engaging in the sacred work of releasing what no longer serves us and embracing the coming season of rest by clearing and storing, both physically and energetically.

Have a wonder couple of days, and celebrate with autumnal colours, conkers, leaves and acorns on your altar space. Eat root veg, gourdes and potatoes, desserts that include apples and other seasonal fruits and burn red, orange and yellow candles to celebrate the waning sun.

I will be away with a few of my students on a Mabon retreat and enjoying drumming and singing around the fire in the woods while connecting with this changing energy and the new moon from yesterday.

Have a wonderful time yourselves.
